Sunčana Rapaić is the director of the Croatian office of the renowned Dutch architectural firm de Architekten Cie. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb and completed her postgraduate studies at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam. After completing her postgraduate studies, she worked at de Architekten Cie. in Amsterdam, and upon returning to Croatia in 2005, she became the chief designer and director of the Zagreb office, overseeing strategic direction and project realization.
Sunčana is an active member of the Croatian Chamber of Architects, the Association of Croatian Architects, and the Zagreb Society of Architects, where she served as a member of the executive and control board, and is also one of the founders of ARTUR – Architecture and Tourism program. She participated as a guest critic at the Technical University of Munich, exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the International Architecture Biennale in Rotterdam, and at the annual exhibitions of Croatian architects’ realizations.
As an authorized architect and international DGNB consultant, Sunčana promotes contemporary trends in architecture including the principles of circular economy and BIM technology in design. Some of her notable projects include Hotel Sungarden Dubrovnik in Orašac, the Mixed-use building Centar Bundek in Zagreb, the Headquarter building Valamar Riviera in Poreč, and the Maritime Passenger Terminal in Šibenik.
