Damir Hrvatin

Head of the Administrative Department for Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection
City of Poreč

Born in 1963 in Poreč, he graduated in 1989 from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb. He is the Head of the Administrative Department for Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of the City of Poreč, where he is responsible for professional activities in the fields of spatial planning, urban development, environmental protection, and cultural heritage. He is also a member of expert bodies of the City of Poreč and the County of Istria.

Since 1989, he has worked in the Municipality of Poreč as an associate in spatial planning (until 1991) and later as Head of the Department for Spatial Planning (until 1993). Since 1994, he has served as Head of the Department in the City of Poreč, primarily leading and coordinating the development of numerous spatial plans and other urban planning documents, as well as project documentation for the construction and design of public buildings and spaces.

He completed postgraduate master’s and doctoral studies in “Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and Landscape Architecture,” earning his PhD in 2015 with the dissertation “Urban Planning Indicators for the Development of Tourist Zones – The Case of the Western Istrian Coastline.”

His research in the field of spatial planning and urbanism is carried out through independent professional and scientific work. He is the author or co-author of three scientific articles and papers.
