Marijan Krpan is the CEO of the Croatian Hydrocarbons Agency (AZU), responsible for the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons and the development of geothermal energy in Croatia. Under his leadership, AZU has launched significant geothermal projects, including exploratory wells in Velika Gorica, Osijek, Vinkovci, and Zaprešić. The Velika Gorica well, reaching nearly 3 kilometers deep, has demonstrated potential for producing renewable thermal energy, capable of covering up to 60% of the city’s heating needs. These projects represent concrete steps toward Croatia’s energy independence and sustainable use of geothermal energy.
